Charter House Justifies Ghana Music Awards Ticket Price

One major problem of the annual Ghana Music Awards Festival since its inception is overcrowding at its venue. Whenever overcrowding occurs, security becomes porous; this offers unscrupulous chaps the oppportunity to get involved in several vices. To check overcrowding at the venue come April 14, several measures have been put in place. According to the Public Relations Manager of Charter House, Juno Abena Dadson, this year they intend to control the crowd at the Dome during the GMA, so that the few who make their way there can enjoy themselves and increase the experience. This she said to justify the price increment of this years event. If there is a major show in Ghana that everyone looks up to, then definitely it would be the annual Ghana Music Awards Festival. Its a show that every music fanatic wants to be part of to cheer his/her favourites. Will the ridiculous increment of ticket prices from a comfortable rate to an exorbitant rate affect attendance? After all, the event will even be shown live on two television stations in Ghana. The tickets for the biggest event on the Ghanaian calendar, the annual GMA start selling at designated venues at a whooping GHC100. Information available to GhanaCelebrities.Com had it that, VIP ticket for the event would cost GHC200 with a higher fee for VVIP. Juno Abena Dadson confirmed the standard price of 100GHC but said instead of selling VIP tickets, they would rather offer those tickets as complimentary to nominees, title sponsors, artistes billed to perform on the night as well as industry players. During last years awards, tickets were sold for 70GHC for standard and 100GHC for VIP. However both the standard and VIP sitting areas were doubled because of last minute yearning to see the event live by many people. She said this year; they are bent on making sure that tickets are not over sold. When asked if the increase in price was a ploy to discourage many from crowding the venue, she answered in negative but stressed that, its a means of checking who comes to the event and also because of the content for this year. She said a lot has been added to make this years edition rich and unforgettable experience with over 20 musicians from Ghana, UK, South Africa, Nigeria and Angola confirmed to perform.
