Ken Agyapong To Remain In BNI Cells

The detained Member of Parliament of Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong, may spend another night in the cells of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) due to lack of time on the part of his legal team to secure bail for him. The lawyer of the embattled legislator, Andy Appiah-Kubi, told Citi News it is not likely his client will be released on bail today. He disclosed that the legal team has resolved to resort to the courts to demand Hon. Agyapongs release since options with the police have failed. Hon. Agyapong was arrested and subsequently detained on Monday over what the police believe to be treasonable comments on his own radio station, Oman FM. He allegedly incited Akan supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to launch attacks on Ewes and Gas. He is yet to be formally charged and indications are that the police may charge him with treason.
