Fmr Prez Spokesperson Slams MillsSome Of His Appointees Lack Proper Upbringing

A Former Press Secretary to ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor has deplored the selective manner of administering justice by the security agencies under the Mills-led NDC government. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong claims several government appointees and NDC functionaries have made statements in the past that could be interpreted as treasonable and even sometimes against him, but interestingly, the government, for purposes of political expediency, turned a blind eye to them all. He was commenting on the arrest of NPP Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong by the police on Monday. The NPP MP is reported to have incited members of his party who are Ashantis to take up arms against their Volta counterparts. He is currently being held at the Greater Accra Regional office of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) after being charged with treason by the police. Speaking in an interview with Fiifi Boafo on OmanFMs National Agenda show, Kwabena Agyapong said he believes the Assin North MPs comments have been taken out of context and described his arrest as unfortunate. The former presidential spokesperson said he cannot fathom how the public, especially members of the ruling party, can outrightly condemn the comments made by the lawmaker, when similar comments had been passed by twice Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces and the current National Security Advisor, Brigadier-General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah and a host of other NDC leading figures on Radio Gold. To him, the NPP MP spoke metaphorically since no amount of words can amount to treason unless there is evidence to show that he (Ken) had concrete plans to execute his assertions. Kens temper was high but he made a figurative speechdoes he even have an army to declare war? He was telling party members to be vigilant. I know of a court case where a man said I will kill you but the judge presiding over the case ruled in his favour because according to him, the man didnt have the instrument to carry out his threat, he said.
