An amount of GH�84 million is being invested into small scale enterprises through the Local Enterprises and Skills Development Program (LESDEP) to reduce unemployment. The amount is to among other things help to dramatically reduce unemployment and inculcate entrepreneurial culture in the youth. This was disclosed by the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah at the 2nd UT Bank Ghana Entrepreneur Awards in Accra. Mr. Ankrah called on business owners and Chief Executive Officers to use their expertise to mentor young people in the field of entrepreneurial development. The occasion saw the recognition of the Chief Executive Officer of Zoomlion, Joseph Siaw Agyepong as the Overall Best Entrepreneur of the Year 2011. Mr. Agyepong was, however, optimistic that his outfit will continue to play its role as major component in the Ghanaian economy. Still staying with entrepreneurship, the Chief Executive Officer of UT Bank, Prince Kofi Amoabeng, has challenged entrepreneurs and business executives to be disciplined in order to succeed in their field of endeavour. Mr Amoabeng told Citi Business News, most businesses fail due to the disorderly manner in which major decisions are taken and implemented. �To be successful you have to be over disciplined; disciplined to a fault. There are many people with good ideas but even the right amount of discipline is not enough. To make it in Ghana means utmost discipline,� he said.
