Ursula, Fiifi Storm Police

The NPP parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma South, Ursula Owusu, yesterday reported at the Ministries Police Station to assist the police in investigating an alleged assault case in which she was a victim in the Odododiodoo constituency about two weeks ago. Fiifi Boafo, Oman FM morning show host, also made time with the police when he honoured a Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) invitation on why he interviewed Kennedy Ohene Agyapong on a matter which borders on treasonable felony and incitement. Ms Owusu was accompanied by some party people including Samuel Abu Jinapor, an aide to the New Patriotic Partys presidential flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, also a victim of the attack. Ms Owusu said she and her group had a cordial and fruitful meeting with the Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Oklu Gyamera. I believe that the police will do a good job by pursuing the case and bring the perpetrators to book, she hoped. Mr. Gyamera confirmed that he had a meeting with Mr. Owusu and some eye witnesses, who would assist in the investigation. He expressed satisfaction about the level of cooperation received from NNP parliamentary candidate so far. He said the case was still under investigation and assured the group that the matter would be pursued to its logical conclusion. The acting PRO of the Accra Regional Police Command, Cpl Kwabena Danso, had said in a statement last week that Ms Owusu had not made herself available to assist the police by identifying those she claimed assaulted her. But Ms Owusu said she was shocked to hear from the police that she had not been cooperating. According to her, she had given enough information and cooperation to the police on the matter. She claimed she first reported the case to the Railways Police Station a few days after the incident and also told one Sergeant Frank Pecta of the Ministries Police Station that some NPP constituency executives who we at the scene could assist in identifying the assailants as she was attacked from behind and could therefore not see the thugs. Ms Owusu said even though she was surprised by the police statement, she was still determined to pursue the case. I have no intention of letting the case die. I will pursue the case even if it takes 10 years in order to make sure that the perpetrators are arrested and sent to court. Also reporting to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday was Fiifi Boafo, the host of Oman FMs Morning Show. He honoured the invitation in the company of two lawyers, Freddy Blay and Ataa Akyea. He produced a recording of the interview he had with Hon Agyapong and told the media afterwards that he was not intimidated. He stated that the police said they would call when they needed him. Speaking to peacefmonline a few minutes after his release, he said that after he identified the voice of his boss on the tape, he was asked why he conducted the interview in the first place. I told them I was only performing my duty as a journalist.
