Ace highlife mogul, Gyedu Blay Ambolley has taken a swipe at the organizers of the Ghana Music Awards saying the concept does not befit a national awards ceremony. According to him �if you say Ghana Music Awards it means that you would have to bring the traditional musicians also in there. You have to bring the Folklores in there as well as those in the North. You would have to bring them all in.� However �if you look at that genre I think that they would have to call it Hiplife Music Awards because everything that we do is basically more of Hiplife than what we have here as highlife or traditional form of music�, the simigwa do musician opined. This year's music awards came off successfully some few weeks ago with relatively less controversy compared to previous ones, however, for Gyedu Blay Ambuley, more needs to be done given the fact that the awards is nationwide. Gyedu Ambolley said this in an interview on the BigBite Morning Show on Xfm95.1 Given the trend, Gyedu Blay Ambolley is therefore calling for a change in name from Ghana Music Awards to HipLife Music Awards because "the ceremony is basically more of Hiplife than what we have here in terms of highlife or other traditional forms of music". Touching on other issues, the "highlifer" further lambasted upcoming musicians who he said are into music just for fame and money. "Most of them haven�t learnt music; most of them don�t know what music is. The only thing is that they go into the studio, the sound engineer cut and paste some rhythms and sounds for them and ask them to rhyme to it� "For a musician to be successful in his career, he must know the rudiments of music, he must know the tendencies of music itself, he will have to know the instrumentation of music so that when you are put in front of a band, you will know the language." He therefore advised musicians and upcoming ones to learn music, be informed, and be educated so that they will know the trade in order to communicate properly with their audience. He nonetheless was full of praise for some upcoming musicians who he said are serious with their work as musicians. He said �I see some of them are serious and these are the ones I am going to collaborate with. When I see them, the way they interpret their forms of Hiplife, the way they go about their Hiplife, I see them as serious and these are the ones that are going to collaborate with�
