Andre Ayew has been nominated for the 2011 Sports Personality of the Year by the country�s Association of Sports Writers. The Olympique Marseille ace faces competition from Esperance ace Harrison Afful and Paralympic athlete Ajara Mohammed. Ayew, 22, is also in contention for the Footballer of the Year award together with international team mates Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and Harrison Afful. Last year, he missed out on this award to Asamoah Gyan-who was crowned the Sports Personality of the Year. The son of football legend had a successful campaign with Marseille in the French Ligue 1 and the Champions League. The 37th edition will be graced by Gianni Merlo, President of the Association of International Press for Sports (AIPS).
