Image of Ghanaian Politicians Dips

The image of Ghanaian politicians has been morally dented and reduced to people who are constantly engaged in petty squabbles, a recent survey has shown. The survey, conducted by the Logos-Rhema Foundation, a religious and leadership resource development entity, also showed that the majority of those surveyed did not want anything to do with politicians, elections or holding of public office. Briefing the media in Accra yesterday, a senior official of the foundation, Dr. Robert Djangmah said it was shocking to hear a lot of negative comments about politicians from those interviewed. "when we asked people whether they wanted to be parliamentarians or politicians, their response was 'No'. We began asking ourselves 'What is the image of the ultimate politician? Is the ultimate politician the one who would sit on radio and trade insults with his or her opponent and end up insulting everybody?". Dr. Djangmah disclosed that the foundation had decided to preach change by embarking on a strategic governance seminar for all 230 parliamentarians, Ministers of State, cabinet members and directors of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, as well of religious bodies.
