GHACEM Pays GHc1,872,000 Dividend To Government

GHACEM Limited has paid a final dividend of GH1,872,000 for the 2011 financial year to the government. The dividend, which represents the governments five per cent share in GHACEM, was received by the Chief Director at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr Enoch H. Cobbinah, on behalf of the government. This dividend was declared at the companys annual general meeting (AGM) held in April 2012. The Managing Director of GHACEM, Mr Morten Gade, who presented the cheque at a short ceremony, said the company would continue to play its role as a corporate citizen by paying the governments dividends yearly. He pledged, on behalf of management of GHACEM, to support the development of the country as part of its corporate social responsibility through the annual payment of taxes and dividends due. The Strategy and Corporate Affairs Director of GHACEM, Dr George Dawson-Ahmoah, and the Officer at the Strategy and Corporate Affairs Department, Mr Benny Fiifi Ashun, accompanied the GHACEM MD to make the presentation. Dr Dawson-Ahmoah, for his part, reiterated the fact that GHACEM held the payment of taxes high in its corporate social responsibility agenda and believed that obligation accounted for the company being crowned the best taxpayer in the country in 2011. Mr Cobbinah commended GHACEM for being a loyal taxpayer and also law abiding with all its financial obligations as far as its operations were concerned. He expressed the resolve of the government to put in much effort to stabilise the economy, so that companies would have favourable conditions in which to operate. Mr Cobbinah pleaded with companies to consider stabilising the prices of their products to support the governments quest to achieve a stable economy.
