I�ll Not Dump Acting For Politics - Sam Dede

Popular Nollywood actor and university lecturer, Sam Dede who was recently appointed as the Director-General of the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency has described the appointment as �a surprise.� He has also dismissed rumour in some quarters that he would dump acting for politics. Speaking for the first time since his new appointment with HVP, in Abuja, recently, Sam Dede said he has a challenge to bring the tourism potentials of Rivers State to the limelight. He lamented that before his appointment, nothing much was happening in the state�s tourism sector. The veteran actor disclosed that � in a few months from now, people will witness a transformation in the sector�. He further disclosed that there are plans to make this year�s Rivers State annual carnival tagged CARVIRIN �an experience of a lifetime.� Hear him: �I don�t intend to become a politician someday. I wasn�t expecting my appointment as the Director-General of Rivers State Tourism Development Agency. It is a challenge to Nollywood practitioners and I intend to take it head-on. �On the state of tourism in Rivers State, it is virtually not in existence compared to a place like Calabar. We need to do a lot of campaign to get people to be aware of the tourism potentials in Rivers State.� Sam Dede was appointed the new Director-General of Rivers State Tourism Development Agency early this year. A consummate actor, Sam Dede is also a Theatre Arts lecturer at the University of Port-Harcourt. He has featured in over 30 films. Some of the movies, which he has acted were Issakaba, Ijele, Paradise II, Desperadoes, Last Burial, and Igodo.
