Photo: 60-Year-Old Kojo Dadson Goes Hip Hop

It is unusual in this part of the world to find a 60-year-old man dressed in hip-hop garb with dreadlocks. Therefore, when NEWS-ONE spotted movie actor Kojo Dadson (a father of four, with the eldest being 27) dressed as if he was in his teens, it became necessary for it to find out what he was up to. The British-trained film actor said for many years, he had waited for an opportunity to satisfy his first love of being a musician and that the time to fulfil that childhood dream had come with the release of his debut track, Ma Rap-eaa Rap-eaa, a hip-life rap song which has been released as a single, off an upcoming album. Kojo Dadson, one of Ghanas finest actors, who is well-known for his role in the popular TV series, Home Sweet Home, told NEWS-ONE that he was in dreads because his time had come and he had changed his name to Dr. Love. Im gunning for the Ghana Music Awards next year and I would be competing with Sarkodie and the rest. You know I actually started rapping before Reggie Rockstone, Okyeame Quophi, Okyeame Kwame, and co came to the scene but I had to concentrate on my family business so I remained behind the scenes. But the time has come for me to satisfy my first love which is actually music, Kojo Dadson noted. You are asking me why I do not sing songs meant for my generation. How should I answer that? Am I living in my generation? I live in a generation of hip-hop and hiplife and that is exactly what I want to do, Kojo Dadson told NEWS-ONE. The actor explained further that about a year ago, he was performing with a live band at Bywell, an Osu-based bar, when he was spotted by Emmanuel Boamah, a movie producer who was so impressed with his music performance that they had a conversation after the concert. Dadson said later, they agreed that he would be sponsored by Mr. Boamah to come out with a rap album. You can check with the guys at Aphrodisiac Nightclub, Boomerang Nightclub and this club at Nyaniba. I forgot the name of that club but I will remember it later; I think it is Vanity or so. I still go to the clubs at my age. Everyone at Vanity knows me and when I get there and grab the mic, I move things, I run the show, he told NEWS-ONE. Ma Rap-eaa Rap-eaa talks about the real life story of Kojo Dadson and his attempts to enter the music industry since his secondary school days at St. Augustines. It is already enjoying airplay on radio and TV and raising a lot of eyebrows. NEWS-ONE has meanwhile confirmed that Kojo Dadsons life story will soon be made into a movie called Dr. Love.
