President Mahama Submits Nomination Forms

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted his nomination forms to be endorsed as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This was done two days ahead of the NDC Special Delegates Congress scheduled to come off in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The Minister of Communication, Haruna Iddrisu, who acted as a representative of the President, submitted the forms to Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of NDC, at the partys headquarters in Accra. President Mahama, who assumed the leadership of the NDC following the death of President John Evans Ata Mills, is the sole candidate for the Kumasi congress. Mr Asiedu-Nketiah said all other required documents and a cheque of GH20,000 were also submitted. He said the officials of the party will peruse the forms in order to authenticate the information contained therein. Mr Aseidu-Nketiah announced that all was set for the congress, which would be addressed by President Mahama, Vice President Kwesi Amissah- Arthur, and Former President John Jerry Rawlings, who is also the Founder of the NDC. We expect to decide whether the President has been endorsed elected or not endorsed by 01:00PM, Mr Asiedu Nketiah revealed. Meanwhile, there are indications that the former President Jerry John Rawlings will participate in the upcoming Delegates Congress. The former president who had a strained relationship with the late President John Mills is expected to address the delegates at the congress. President Rawlings and his wife have been linked to the formation of the break-away National Democratic Party (NDP). Mrs Rawlings is believed to have thrown her weight behind the group even though there is no official statement to back such claims. Mrs. Rawlings was the sole challenger of the late President Mills at last years delegates congress where the late President Mills was overwhelmingly elected to lead the party into the December polls.
