Randy Jackson Quits As Judge On American Idol

The record producer has followed in the footsteps of fellow panelists Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler and left the show, according to reports. But he will remain a part of the US telly hit, by becoming a mentor to contestants, TMZ has reported. Randy, 56, was the only original judge left, after first joining Idol alongside Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell in 2002. The new line-up is yet to be confirmed, but it is said there will be four judges sitting on the panel. Pop diva Mariah Carey has already signed a megabucks deal to join the show. While hip-hop star Nicki Minaj is also in the running for a spot at the table. And country stars Brad Paisley and Keith Urban are being considered to ensure the show pleases its core viewers in middle America.
