NDC not committed to cause of Ghanaians-TESCON

The Tertiary Education Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party (TESCON) says the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had over the years shown that they were not committed to the cause of the ordinary Ghanaian. "We urgently need leadership that would represent the ideals and aspirations of the people. Our leaders must have vision and a sense of purpose." Mr. Kofi Abrefa Afena Benedict, President of TESCON, told journalists at a press conference in Accra that whilst the NDC had to apologize to Ghanaians for their ineptitude, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the NPP, had proved that he had the policy alternatives "to move this nation forward". He said the NPP under President John Agyekum Kufuor made education free to the basic level with the implementation of the capitation grant. "The school feeding program also sought to take some burden off the shoulders of our parents, and these interventions show the commitment of the NPP towards the needy." He continued, "After a successful implementation of these, the NDC wants some cacophony of alleluia for some diminutive expansions." Mr. Abrefa said Nana Akufo-Addo was promising free education up to secondary school level and "instead of the government supporting this great agenda or providing policy alternatives, they are rather engaging in personality attacks and doubting the policy." He said the above example, typified the difference between the two parties in all fields of national endeavor. "Nana Akufo-Addo has also promised to create a society of opportunities for all, which the NDC has failed to do. He promised to invest in housing and provide a lot of Ghanaians with decent homes," he said. He said the only means by which the country could progress was to have quality leadership. "Nana Akufo-Addo has proved beyond doubt that he is up to the task, that he has the policy alternatives to move this nation forward and together with his team, Ghana would get there," said Mr. Abrefa. He urged Ghanaians to vote "massively for the NPP in the on-coming elections.
