Reinstate Kofi Adams - Group

A Kumasi based group - John and John for 2012 - has called on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to as a matter of urgency reinstate Mr Kofi Adams to enable him to join the partys campaign team. This, according to the group, will strengthen the partys quest to retain power. At a press conference in Kumasi where they made the call, the John and John for 2012 group pointed out that notwithstanding the punishment meted out to Mr Kofi Adams for his alleged tape utterances, he had showed consistent commitment to the progress of the party. The Public Relations Officer of the group, Mr Abdul Majeed Musah and the Founder, Mr Adamu Mohammed, explained that, after suspending Mr Kofi Adams from the party, they monitored his operations both on radio and in the print and noticed that so far he has conducted himself very well Since punishment was meant to reform, there was no need for the party to continue to dissociate Mr Adams at a time the party needed a united front to overcome its challenges. To be victorious will not come on a silver platter but with a strong and united front. It is in this direction that we recommend that Kofi Adams be reinstated to get all hands on deck for our campaign, they stressed. They also urged the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NDC to use the special powers given them to fill the vacancy created by the exit of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings. They noted that, filling the vacancy would enable the party to have a full compliment that would propel them to victory in the 2012 general elections. On the issue of the tape recordings purported to have been made by the National Organiser of the party, Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan, the group said it was important for the NEC to conduct investigations on the tape recordings and make the appropriate decision. They pointed out that considering the seriousness of the content, especially those that bordered on National Security and the Ministry of Finance, it was important for investigations to be conducted instead of sweeping the issue under the carpet. The outcome of the investigations would determine the next line of action they concluded. They again called on the Alliance for Accountable Governance to eschew any action that would plunge the nation into chaos, saying, they should always revise their notes before coming public to threaten mayhem
