Amakye Dede Thanks Organisers of Legends And Legacy Ball

Evergreen highlife musician Daniel Amakye Dede, popularly known as Abrantie, has expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their support, which eventually saw him honoured at the Legends And Legacy Ball concert held on September 15, at the Accra International Conference Centre. Speaking in an interview with BEATWAVES yesterday in his office in Accrahis first interview after being honoured as a living legendAbrantie described the award as quiet competitive. He said, I never expected to be recognised this way. Its a great surprise and it means a lot; to any musician, this is a great privilege. My brother, the very day I was informed about the award, I told myself, why me because there are equally good musicians out there who deserved to be honoured. Hmm! It is the work of God. Abrantie said the award given him served as a wakeup call for musicians to realize that they were moving to higher heights and therefore needed to re-equip themselves with what it took for an artiste to get to the international level. Abrantie, who commended Imajin Advertising, the organizers of the Legend And Legacy Ball for honouring him as a living legend, said: I am saying a big thank you to Imajin Advertising because without its love for the music industry, I dont think I would have come this far. He said Ghanaian musicians, and for that matter, those in the music industry have a lot to offer mother Ghana by way of shaping the youth: The majority of their clients are the youth and therefore our musicians have the potential to make or mar their development. He therefore urged his colleague musicians to compose songs that would shape the youth to become more disciplined and to inculcate in them the real Ghanaian culture. According to him, if we failed to achieve this objective, generations yet unborn would not forgive us because the repercussions of our inability to instil the required discipline and good morals in the youth would be very devastating and this generation would forever be answerable. He also urged musicians to take advantage of the numerous economic programmes put in place by government to develop themselves and also increase the scope of their markets.
