Some political parties in the country have expressed worry at the constant power cuts in the country saying with just two months to this year�s election, Ghanaians must be wary of its implications. A damage caused to the West African Gas Pipeline by an anchor of a ship has forced the VRA, ECG and GRIDCo to ration power in the country. But some political parties have opined that the situation must be resolved before the election. The Director of Communications for the CPP, Nii Armah Akomfrah said: �Ghanaians are worried by the power cuts. For 20 years, the governments we have had in this country have not been able to tackle the basics. It�s not about who has added more than the other; it�s about getting the basics right. It is becoming a major issue and it may have an impact on the election.� The PPP�s Communications Director, Richmond Keelson also opined that that the situation must be rectified before the election. �We believe it�s going to have an effect on the conduct of the election. We should all speak with one voice and see how we can put in place appropriate measures to deal with it. We ought to do something drastic about it so by 7th December and beyond, we wouldn�t have problems like that,� he said. But the Director of Operation at the ECG, Tetteh Okine explained to Citi News, �it is the quantum they send us, that is what we sell and it is the same quantum, it hasn�t changed so we will just follow the schedule. Unless things change, it is the power we have that we will sell.�
