Black Maidens Seek Salvation Over The Germans

Ghana's bid to contest a first ever final at a FIFA womens competition ended in the semi-finals but the Black Maidens still have their sights on a good finish when they play in the third place finish. The match for third place at the FIFA U-17 Womens World Cup Azerbaijan 2012 is between first-round rivals, Ghana and Germany as the Group D qualifiers meet again. Mas-Ud Didi Dramani's side will clash with the Germans at the Tofig Bahramov Stadium on Saturday as they go after their best-ever finish in the competition. This will be the second meeting between both sides after the Germans edged Ghana 2-1 in their opening Group D fixture. Though the Germans won that contest, Mas-Ud Dramani is sure the Black Maidens, who have surpassed their pre-tournament expectations will be ready for the clash. Our goal was to reach the quarter-finals, but we managed to do even better, said Dramani. So, we went into the semi-finals as underdogs. We had never got this far (at this competition) before. We can bounce back, he said. In fact, I think that were maturing by the day. The players are very young and they need to be able to handle themselves in defeat as well as in victory. Thats the way for them to evolve and improve. Ghana will be without Jane Ayieyam after she was sent off in their semi-final defeat to France.
