Black Maidens To Receive $7,000 Each As World Cup Bonus

President John Mahama has directed the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Clement Kofi Humado, to double the bonus of the Black Maidens from 3,500 dollars to 7,000 dollars each. He gave the directive yesterday when the Black Maidens paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle to present their bronze medals to him and the country as a whole. The under-17 women world cup competition ended in Azerbaljan over the weekend with the Maidens winning bronze the first at that level by an African nation. They defeated Germany 1-0 in the third place match. Though the team failed to win the ultimate, President Mahama was of the firm conviction that paying them the 7,000 dollars promised earlier will motivate them and other teams, to strive for excellence. The President commended the Maidens for their response and commitment to national duty. The sector Minister, Mr. Kofi Humado also commended the team for their performance and hoped they would go for the ultimate in the next competition. He again, praised the management committee and the technical team, for a job well done
