GFA Must Be Firm And Deal Decisively With Dede Ayew...Must Be Sacked if Necessary

Managing Editor of the defunct Gye Nyame Concord newspaper,Alfred Ogbamey, has asked the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and coach of the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah to insist that midfielder Dede Ayew apologises to the Technical Team and team mates of the Black Stars. According to the senior journalist if this is not done, some of the players might repeat it and the authority of Kwesi Appiah will be downplayed. "This is about the second time he has shown disrespect to Kwesi Appiah", he recalled. He said the era when Ghanaians coaches were not respected was in the past and that there is a need to value them (Ghanaian coaches). Andre Dede Ayew has been asked to apologise to the Black Stars technical team and players within seven days or face serious sanctions from the GFA. The Marseille player reacted angrily on being substituted during Saturdays 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi in Lilongwe. According to a reporter from Happy FM who was at the game, Ayew uttered unpleasant words directed at the coaching staff to register his displeasure on being substituted. The son of the legend Abedi Pele also gestured angrily before refusing to shake hands with team manager Sabahn Quaye and his team-mates on the bench. Contributing during a panel discussion on Peace FMs flagship programme Kokrokoo, Alfred Ogbamey stated: The GFA should be firm in demanding that Dede Ayew apologizes to the coach and deal decisively with him if he fails to do so. If it even means he should be taken out of the team, it should be done. We all admire his father but his father achieved what he achieved because he showed humility. Alfred reiterated that coach Kwesi Appiah should stamp his authority and put his feet down to discipline the Olympique De Marseille player to deter others from repeating it. "I will appeal to Abedi Pele to talk to his son. "There should be a better way of handling it, than showing disrespect and to the extent of choosing not to shake hands with all your colleague players because you've been substituted", he added.
