Kwesi Appiah Rules Out Early Nations Cup Exit

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has no doubts his side will progress to the knock-out stage at the 2013 Africa Cup Nations finals. The ex-international leads the Black Stars to their 19th appearance in the tournament as they face crafty opponents. Ghana must survive tests from two-time champions DR Congo, 2012 bronze medalists Mali and Niger in Group. Appiah, who was the team's assistant coach at the last edition in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, has tipped his side to make it in the quarter-final. "It's not going to be easy, and I don't also believe in the Mali is strong talks, both Niger and Congo are good sides but for me I believe we will go through," Appiah said. Ghana play DR Congo on 20 January before engaging Mali four days later and a final game against Niger on 28 January. The Black Stars want to better the disappointing fourth place finish chalked early this year.
