John Boye Praises Gy-gyantic Captain

Stade Rennes defender John Boye is confident Asamoah Gyan would guide Ghana to their first Nations Cup trophy in 31 years after being appointed Black Stars captain. The 26-year-old UAE-based striker was handed the Ghana armband on permanent basis by coach James Kwesi Appiah with unattached John Mensah being elevated to the general captaincy role. The former Sunderland man's appointment has drawn excitement from his team-mates and defender John Boye who started his European career with the former Udinese striker at Stade Rennes says he was delighted when he first learn of Gyan's appointment. "I'm very happy for him and I believe he has what it tkes to lead the team to glory in January," he told Ghanasportsonline.com The 24-year-old is likely to be named in James Kwesi Appiah's 21-man squad for the 2013 AFCON.
