Melcom Should Relieve Asamoah Gyan

I humbly appeal to captain Of The Black Stars to in the interest of national development ask Management of Melcom Stores to relieve him of his commercial commitment to them if for nothing at all in honour of his mum who died in a tragic accident this week. I will not pretend to understand the impact and the pain he and those affected in the recent collapse of the achimota based melcom stores disaster because I have not lost a direct relative or loved one under any circumstances recently. I can only assume the quantum of their hurt and express my sincere condolence. But whilst we are at it, I will plead with our captain of the black Stars to turn his misfortune into an unprecedented demonstration of sacrifice that will positively affect the way most Ghanaian based business and property owners take everybody for granted because like Sammy Osei Kuffour once said 'Ghanafour, yen y3 serious' meaning 'we Ghanaians are not serious'. Our fellow Ghanaians prayed to God to help them secure a job so they can earn a living within the context of legitimacy and after God had answered their prayers they reported to work at melcom stores to honour their pact with God. Some are dead. Others will never be the same again in their lives......and A few survived. It is not Asamoah Gyan's fault the building collapsed but you have something in common with the victims which we call 'AVOIDABLE ACCIDENT'. Besides you are the highest ranked Ghanaian to suffer any tragedy this week...... From where I sit and with my little knowledge and experience about brand endorsements, I know you can live without the money Melcom stores are paying you to secure your association with them. I can only hope our system find those culpable in your mum accident and the collapsed building and bring them to face the full rigours of the law. I concede that will not be enough to atone for your loss but the effects of you severing your deal with Melcom Stores will leave an indelible mark in the memories of those in positions of power and will add credibility to your reign as the captain of Ghana's Black Stars and as a person. "And Ive come here to Ghana for a simple reason: The 21st century will be shaped by what happens not just in Rome or Moscow or Washington, but by what happens in Accra, as well." Barack Hussein Obama Addressing Ghanaians during his visit at the International Conference Centre. Asamoah, if you decide to walk away from what these Indians are offering you to endorse their Melcom brand, the world will take note of the social principle underlining your stance and even your worse enemy won't be able to quantify your credibility as a role model. It will also be described as a mark of solidarity with 'avoidable' accident victims but most importantly as the African who walked away from the money as part of his efforts to blaze the trail when it comes to reminding the corporate world that when it comes to social responsibility, the conduct ought to be mutual not only in Rome, Moscow and Washington; but in Accra as well. God Bless The Black Star Nation.
