KAM Awards Winners Receive Their Prizes

Kumawood Multimedia, organisers of the annual Kumawood Akoben Movie Awards, has presented the winners of the maiden edition of the awards their prizes at a ceremony held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi. The colourful ceremony brought together all stakeholders in the creative arts industry to witness the presentation. President John Mahama, who was the special guest, presented trophies to the winners at the ceremony. The winners were excited to receive their awards in a glamorous style as they posed for cameras. President John Mahama received a trophy on behalf of the late President J.E.A. Mills, who was given the Prestigious Ultimate award. In a short speech, President John Mahama promised that if his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won, he would help Kumawood Multimedia to host National film festival every year and that he believed this could attract foreign participation and investment in the creative arts industry. He urged stakeholders in the industry to work tirelessly to boost its image and put in place policies to regulate it with the support of his government. The communication strategist of KAM Awards, Isaac Rockson, said the reason for awarding the late President was that he recognized MUSICA in his budget and supported Ghallywood, and that was a big achievement, for which the creative arts industry should support President John Mahama.
