NDC Wins 16 Parliamentary Seats In B/A...

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) won 16 out of the 29 parliamentary seats in the Brong-Ahafo Region in Election 2012, capturing four constituencies, which had remained �traditional seats� of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), since 1992. The NDC won three out of the five newly created constituencies in the region, and the NPP currently has 13 seats in the region. Mr Eric Opoku, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister snatched the Asunafo South constituency seat with 21,770 votes from the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament (MP), Mr George Boakye, who obtained 15,995 votes. Dr Hanna Louisa Bissiw, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, won the Tano South constituency seat with 19,236 votes from the incumbent NPP MP, Mr Andrews Adjei-Yeboah, who had 17,856 votes. Mr Alex Kyeremeh, Techiman Municipal Chief Executive, snatched the Techiman North constituency seat with 16,537 votes from Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, incumbent NPP MP, who had 13,727 votes. Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Nkoranza Municipal Chief Executive of the NDC, won the Nkoranza South constituency seat with 24,536 votes from NPP incumbent MP, Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, who obtained 19,534 votes. In the newly created constituencies, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim of the NDC won the Banda constituency seat with 5,645 votes as against 4,950 votes by Mr Joe Danquah of the NPP. In the Sene East constituency, Mr Dominic Napare of the NDC, won with 10,343 votes as against 4,937 votes by Mr Mohammed Belinyi Abdulai of the NPP. Dr Kwabena Donkor of the NDC won the Pru East constituency seat with 15,906 votes as against 3,430 votes by Mr Abraham Nyidavu of the NPP. The two newly created constituencies in the region captured by the NPP were: Berekum East constituency won by Dr Kwabena Twum-Nuamah with 22,687 votes as against 16,517 votes by Mr George Atta-Boateng of the NDC, and Dormaa Central seat was won by Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Incumbent NPP MP for Dormaa West, who had 22,631 votes as against 19,687 votes by Professor Kwame Agyenim-Boateng of the NDC. Mr Vincent Oppong Asamoah, Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive of NDC, won the Dormaa West constituency seat with 8,638 votes as against 6,792 votes by Mr Ali Maiga Halidu of the NPP. Alhaji Masawud Mohammed, Pru District Chief Executive of the NDC, won the Pru West constituency seat with 9,465 votes as against 8,278 votes obtained by Mr Stephen Pambiin Jalula of the NPP. Mr Kwasi Agyemang Gyan Tutu of the NDC won the Tain seat with 17,286 votes as against 12,981 votes by Mr Joseph Ofori Amanfo of the NPP and Mr Adjei Mensah incumbent NDC MP for Techiman South constituency, retained the seat with 41,430 votes as against 33,658 votes by Prince Yaw Donyina of the NPP. In Kintampo North, Mr Stephen Kunsu, incumbent NDC MP, retained the seat with 22,761 votes as against 17,504 by Mr Awudulai Razak of the NPP, while Mr Yaw Effa-Baafi, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture of NDC, retained the Kintampo South constituency seat with 15,552 votes as against 11,467 votes by Mr Yaw Adjei Duffour of the NPP. In Atebubu/Amantin, Mr Sanja Nanja, the District Chief Executive won the seat with 16,964 votes as against 11,413 votes by Mr Cassius Osei-Poku of the NPP, while Mr Kwame Twumasi Ampofo, incumbent NDC MP retained the Sene West constituency seat with 12,511 votes as against 6,721 votes by Mr Joseph Mackay Kumah of the NPP. Mr Robert Sarfo Mensah, incumbent NPP MP for Asunafo North, retained the seat with 28,404 votes as against 26, 820 votes by Mr Mohammed Kwaku Doku, the Municipal Chief Executive and NDC candidate. The rest are: Mr Benhazin J. Dahah (NPP), Asutifi North, 15,112 votes, Ms Freda Prempeh (NPP) Tano North with 18,531 votes, Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, incumbent NPP MP for Sunyani East with 42,478 votes, Mr Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, incumbent NPP MP for Sunyani West with 26,153 votes, and Mr Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng incumbent NPP MP for Berekum West with 10,406 votes, Mr William Kwasi Sarbi, NPP, Dormaa East, 13,712, and Mr Yaw Afful, incumbent NPP MP for Jaman South, 22,835 votes. Mr Siaka Stevens of the NPP narrowly snatched the Jaman North constituency seat with 14,920 votes, from Mr Alexander Asum-Ahensah, Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture and of the NDC, who had 14,718 votes. Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Transport, and incumbent NDC Member of Parliament for Asutifi South retained the seat with 16,077 votes.
