African Cup Of Nations Kicks Off In South Africa

The African Cup of Nations in South Africa kicks off today. The tournament which involves 16 African Nations will begin with host South Africa playing their Cape Verdian counterpart. Ghana will kick start their campaign tomorrow against DR Congo. Ahead of the match, many people have mixed reactions about whether or not the Stars will be able to end Ghana's trophy drought in thirty-one years. While some believe that the exclusion of Dede Ayew might affect the team, others think the current crop of players selected by Coach Kwasi Appiah are amateurs who have hunger to earn a name for themselves and their country. Sports Analyst, Carl Tuffour assesses the performance of the Stars ahead of the tournament. He spoke to Kingsley Obeng Kyere on Radio Ghana's Current Affairs Programme, 'Behind the News'. Mr. Tuffour believes that the Ghanaian team has not lived to expectation but that Cote d'lvoire has been the biggest achiever.
