Absence of Experienced Players Affected Black Stars...But Past Heroes Must Be Appreciated

Law lecturer and sports analyst, lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning has attributed the failure of the Black Stars at the AFCON to the absence of some top senior and experienced players who were absent due to injuries and some misunderstandings in the team. The absence of Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and John Mensah who missed out due to injuries affected the team, because the players lacked experience and were the youngest team in the tournament, the soccer pundit pointed out. Outlining some hitches in the team and the Ghana Football Association, Moses Foh-Amoaning said the head coach, Kwasi Appiah, failed in his tactics and he must admit that he made mistakes with his tactics which will be the beginning of healing process in Ghana, adding that the administrators should be up doing to elevate the team. The former Boxing Authority Boss, however, said the Black Stars are a very young as such it will take time to in building up this team; adding that, I was not expecting the team to go and win and also anything apart from the semi-final was a bonus. With his experience in sports, he said the coach must be retained but, must be appreciated for the fact that few things went wrong, and the only way to restore the senior national team to its past glory was to bring all the old players on board to assist with their past experiences. The law lecturer reiterated that one major hindrance to the success of the Black Stars was the failure of Government to honour past heroes. The Black Stars players in 1965 were promised a house each by the then government, but up to date that promise has not been fulfilled and he (Moses Foh-Amoaning) believes that their grievances are the cause of the Black Stars failure. He suggested that the GFA and the government should resolve any problem with the past heroes and any player who has any issue with the management. Speaking on Hot Fm Friday morning, Moses Foh-Amoaning said; we have neglected our past heroes, hence the problems we face with our national team, adding that he was happy that President John Mahama mentioned in his relocating inaugural statement that he would ensure the Stars past glory is restored.
