Stephen Appiah Should Be Made 'Redefined' Team Manager of The Black Stars

Ex Ghana international Anthony Baffoe says Stephen Appiah is best suited to take up a redefined team manger role in the Black Stars. The former Koln and Fortuna Dusseldorf defenders comments joins a chorus of suggestions being made to improve the national team following Ghanas disappointing finish at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. According to the FIFA and CAF match general cordinator, current team managers are rather working as welfare officers. Baffoe believes these are some of the needed changes to be made not only in the Black Stars, but the other national teams and even clubs. Team manger in Ghana is a welfare officer but team manager in Europe is a very high position, he said on GTVs Stage Africa show. This is a person you knows the game, often a former player so has the respect of all. Its more like a team director, a very high position. Look at people like Oliver Bierhoff, Mathias Sammer, Fernando Hierro. Have you seen the way they play their role as team managers? The 47-year-old adds ex Ghana captain Stephen Appiah is the most equip to take up the redefined role of a team manager in the Black Stars. For me, Stephen Appiah is the right person to play this role.
