GFA Should Use Pratical Means To Get The Ayew Brothers And Essien Back- Osafo Maafo

A former Minister of Education and Sports, Yaw Osafo-Maafo on Monday informed the Ghana Football Association led by Kwesi Nyantakyi, to do all they can to lure the Ayew brothers, Micheal Essien and Kevin-Prince Boateng back into the senior national team to help the nation achieve more silverware. An optimistic Osafo Maafo noted on Okay FMs morning show that he was confident that though the above players had expressed their desire not to play for the nation, there is a sure way of getting them on the field any moment from now. On the issue of enticing the Ayew brothers back into the Black Star team, the former minister for Sports, offered that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) could consult with their father (Abedi Ayew Pele) to talk to his children. He continued that the Ayew's situation is a typical example of one that calls for someone who has the capabilities of convincing the players to rescind their decision. "All players reserve some form of respect for certain particular people and listen to them whenever they speak. It doesnt necessarily mean that because Kwesi Nyantakyi is the head of GFA or Kwesi Appiah the head coach, they are the one to confront the issue. It is a wrong approach and the best is to get the father of these gentlemen to speak to them. The GFA must find someone who can heartily talk to Abedi Pele and make him talk to his wards...if we continue to make it an official matter, we wouldnt get anywhere. This isnt an official matter; it is like a woman who knows her husband well and how to calm him when things get out of order, he advised. Black Stars midfielder, Andre Dede Ayew brushed aside the Ghana Football Association (GFA)'s effort to talk them out of their temporary retirement from the Black Stars, at least, for now. Ayew called time off his illustrious career with the Black Stars late last month citing issues surrounding his relationship with the management team. While the GFA rejected the player's request and made suggestions of a meet up to discuss the issues he raised in his letter, the player has made it clear he is disinterested in meeting up with the association. Mr. Maafo urged the association to make use of his advice to get all the pivotal players back in the Black Star camp to help build a formidable team.
