General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John has accused President John Dramami Mahama of being behind the accident of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, vice Presidential candidate of the NPP in the 2012 general elections. Sir John suspects foul play because according to him, the accident occurred at the President�s hometown; Bole, adding, he could have a hand in it. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, was involved in a near-fatal accident on the Bole Bamboi road in the Northern Region on Sunday. The former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana was airlifted to Accra and then taken to the Lister Hospital where he has been discharged and recuperating at his residence at Kanda. Speaking on the issue in an interview with King Edward on Hello FM�s Kokrokoo on Monday, Sir John said: �Bole happens to be the same place where the party�s Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey also had his accident and now Dr. Bawumia, does it not create suspicion? I feel there is an orchestration�� he intimated. He however assured party members and sympathizers not to worry as Dr. Bawumia is responding to treatment, adding, anybody plotting against the NPP will not succeed.
