Agbeko Presents Title To RLG

Newly crowned World Boxing Organization (WBO) Bantamweight champion Joseph King Kong Agbeko yesterday stormed the Osu head office of rlg Communications to present his title to the company. The Bantamweight king lauded rlg for supporting him in particular and sports in general in the country. Agbeko expressed the belief that the support from rlg contributed immensely to his comeback after a two-year absence from the ring. He indicated in a brief post-presentation interview that rlg have been very supportive, and I really appreciative that. If they continue in this same vein, boxing will grow in Ghana and I believe more world champions will emerge. He added, Boxing has done the country a lot of good by way of producing world champions far more than football. I would like to appeal to corporate Ghana to emulate rlgs example. Agbeko revealed that he will soon return to the ring but will be pursuing a higher version of his weight- the Super Bantamweight. Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq, Group Head, Legal & Corporate Affairs of the AGAMS Group, who stood in for Roland Agambire, CEO, AGAMS Group, stated that presentation of the title was in fulfillment of the boxers promise to his outfit before the World Title bout. This is what he promised us when he came knocking on our doors. He has indeed made us and the Ghana proud, and we will continue to support him and sports in general in the country. We have partnered the GFA to upgrade training facilities at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence in Prampram and other sports related development projects like the renovation of the Accra Stadium Sports Hall, he added. Agbeko defeated his Colombian opponent Luis Melendez on a unanimous point decision to win the WBO Batamweight title in Accra a few weeks ago.
