The Convention People's Party (CPP) has said it is most grateful to the chiefs and people of Kumbungu for voting for the CPP in last Tuesday's parliamentary by-election.
The party believes that the election of Amadu Moses Yahaya is a bold statement on strengthening of parliamentary democracy in Ghana and intended to change the one-way pattern of Ghana's two-party political system.
According to a statement signed by Nii Armah Akomfrah, Director of Communication for the CPP, the party also commended the Electoral Commission and the Northern Regional Police Command for their role in ensuring a free, fair, transparent and a violence-free by-election.
We are very grateful to the police for the rapid response to calls made by the party in ensuring peace and security, it stated.
In the partys view, the election of Amadu Moses Yahaya would bring major changes in the lives of the people.
We expect to see him work in the spirit and letter of the party's ideology and guided by the will of the people in the constituency for change, the party indicated and pledged to support and demonstrate its commitment by helping him achieve his political objective.
