Tsatsu, Bawumia Ready For Round 8

Lead Counsel for the third respondent in the ongoing Presidential Election Petition will have another bite of the Cherie in Day Eight of his cross examination of the second petitioner on Monday. Tsatsu Tsikata is expected to subject Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to further scrutiny of pink sheet exhibits and to attack his credibility as a witness in a case in which leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are challenging the 2012 election results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC). On the last adjourned date, Tsikata requested a recount of the exhibits, having consistently challenged claims by the petitioners that 11,842 pink sheet exhibits were tendered. The presiding Judge, William Atuguba granted the request by Tsikata and with the consent of the parties involved in the case, appointed International Accounting firm KPMG as a referee to do the count. Given the twists and turns that have attended Tsatsus cross examination, it is not clear if he will draw the curtain on Monday. If he does, Counsel for the petitioners, Philip Addison can take up the option of re-examining his witness to clear some doubts that have been created by counsel for the three respondents. He may then choose to call another witness or close his case after which the first respondent, represented by Tony Lithur will open his case with Johnson Asiedu Nketia sitting-in for President John Mahama.
