Shell Ghana Trains Customers On Safety Procedures

Shell Ghana Limited has organised a Bitumen Safety workshop for its customers and prospective ones in Takoradi in the Western Region. The initiative is part of the company's commitment to health, safety, security and the environment (HSSE) in its operations across the country. It also falls in line with Shell Ghana's Goal Zero initiative, an objective which seeks to achieve zero harm to people, maintain the integrity of facilities and reduce environmental impact on the business. The participants were given a thorough understanding of topics including product knowledge, safe bitumen handling, maintaining product quality, storage handling, and bitumen loading, among others. Stakeholders from the Ghana Highway Authority were part of the workshop to support and educate participants on maintaining product quality. The participants also benefited from discussions on Shells HSSE priority topics on behavioural change, 12 life- saving rules, and employee safety under the Shell Hearts and Minds Module. The B2B Sales Team Leader at Shell Ghana, Mr Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, said the company consistently aspired to engage its partners on safety issues to help enhance their operations. "In effect, the training sessions served as a tool to motivate and educate customers while at the same time building a network of advocates for safety and safe practice work, he said.
