Election Petition: Why Are Pastors Quiet - Yammin

Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Joseph Yamin has questioned why pastors in the country have kept quiet on proceedings ongoing at the Supreme Court. I have a problem with the clergy in respect to proceedings at the Supreme Court. For the first time in the history of this country the clergy has kept quiet on something that is threatening the productivity of this nation. They came out to boldly state their position on the creating of new constituencies. They were so concerned that they issued a statement but in the case of the Supreme Court nothing has been heard from them. The NPP has filed a case at the Supreme Court challenging the results of the 2012 elections and its declaration of President John Dramani Mahama. According to the Deputy Minister, the proceedings at the Supreme Court is affecting productivity in the country; hence the need for the pastor to break their silence and speak about it. Speaking on Peace FMs morning show Kokrokoo with host Kwami Sefa-Kayi, Mr. Yamin said it is important for the pastors to speak on the issue because when the time comes for the Supreme Court to be sitting on Sundays, the church is going to lose revenue in terms of offering and tithes because a lot of people would love to sit at home and listen to the court proceedings rather than go to church and worship God Ghana is facing a tough time, nobody is working up to the limit it is supposed to work and the pastors are quiet and not talking about the cost involvedIf they speak, people will realize that the action of the NPP and for that matter the petitioners is not helping the country. It is sending the country back he indicated.
