Christian Community Music Awards Honour Cwesi Oteng, Sonnie Badu, Others

This years Christian Community Music Awards (CCMA), also known as the Most Wanted Awards, has come off at the National Theatre. Unlike most music awards where the emphasis is on the most popular of a selected category, CCMA honors outstanding individuals and institutions that have made commendable contributions to gospel music. Highlights of this years event included the honoring of Ms Joyce Aryee with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her unending promotion of choral and classical music in Ghana. There were also great performances from the likes of Cwesi Oteng, Ps Helen Yawson, Koda, Samsong from Nigeria and groups such as the Harmonious Choral, LIC Choir and Impact Project. This year, 13 trophies were presented to winning artistes with four of them being non-Ghanaians. Gospel music sensation, Cwesi Oteng, was the biggest winner on the night with a credited investment account from CCML which organisers say is to encourage the culture of savings and investments on the gospel music circuit.
