Opinion: When Our Elders Lack Wisdom

I wish to congratulate the members of the AU (African Union) for 50 years of unprecedented failure. After another 50, and if I am alive at age 96, I would want to reflect and congratulate them on a century of giving-less; face-less, aim-less, vision-less, hope-less, dignity-less, moral-less and human-less existence. Now that the celebrations are over and done with, the wining and dining, the dancing and singing have all been wrapped up and thrown into the waste bin of a much adulterated history, who will sing the beautiful but disappointed people of Africa? A People miserably let-down by their greedy and bastardised, lunatic, Leaders in three-piece suits living lavishly like the worlds greatest and richest elite when they were penniless urchins prior to assuming power. African Unity is achievable, surely; example: the USA - Americans do not love one another, on the contrary the majority have psychological problems better left unravelled but they are united in one belief, "that survival is prime" and that is key. One would ask how African Unity can be achieved when family and nation are not united. I say to you: "any attempt to unite people is, at best, secondary until the unity of cause is achieved". That is why I am suggesting to the AU that it is by crafting an African constitution that defines "what must be" and "what must not", an endeavour all shall be united in, that this unity is achievable such that we may, mutually, defend our seas, lands and skies, sanctify our existence and make sovereign our resolve to be one people with a common destiny in similar but diverse cultures and traditions, maintaining our collective image as Africans living within the borders of sacrosanctity and holding our sovereignty in high esteem. It is then that, maybe, just maybe, we can become the US of Africa and that is not guaranteed given the awful plots by all to rip good old Africa off her potentials and wealth. Soon, very soon, they may distribute slave passports and haul us all to an emerging economic colonial master, like China, under the pretext of giving us jobs, as a nation that cares for the world, only to dump us in their coal mines never to resurface again. Maybe that is their plan for fossilising natural ingredients to make coal to be exploited one billion years from now. It does not make much sense but, again, with the issue of China and Chinese infiltration into Africa, what does? This is the foresight and wisdom that we lack in contemporary logic. WHO'LL SING D DISPPOINTED PEOPLE OF AFRICA. DISAPPOINTED IN A LEADERSHIP THAT'S FAILED THEM FOR 50 YRS I am, barely, able to maintain the little flicker of hope that seems, so, insignificant, yet, mightily huge for a poor African, such as me, who sniffs the air for any plausible wish come true. The AU day fell on a Saturday and the following Monday was declared a holiday but the ignorant cheered on. Little did they know the sinister motive behind it. Anyway, not much was lost as, in this era, Monday, just like Sunday, brings no fiscal entry but the core of the matter is to indulge the agitating people in more, supposed, merry-making as to forget the woes of everyday strifeAlas, the government failed to see, or maybe just turned a blind eye to, the fact that there is neither the money nor the SPIRIT to make MerryCry o Mama Africa, just CRY!!!
