I Have Been Sidelined - Nukpezah

Albert Nukpezah, Chief Athletics coach of the National Sports Authority (NSA) claims he has been sidelined from technical activities of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA). He told GNA Sports officials of the GAA have overlooked him in the implementation of all technical decisions rendering him redundant. You will be surprised to know that, we have athletes participating in Grand Prix in Nigeria at the moment but I have no idea how they got there and how they are faring, even though I am the chief coach. They claim I talk too much, that is why they have sidelined me, but I stand for the truth and will always ensure that the right things are done. Nukpezah said though he attends board meetings on regular basis, he was sidelined anytime decisions were implemented. He claimed I am going through all these challenges because Professor Francis Dodoo, president of the GAA was not happy with my appointment as the chief coach of the NSA. Coach Nukpezah said though the Professor Dodoo-led administration was making efforts to improve athletics in the country, the sport was rather on the decline. Athletics in Ghana is not improving but rather on a decline and we need to come together to revive it. But some of us have been pushed away for reasons best known to those in charge. Bawa Fuseini, General Secretary of the GAA however denied the allegations. He said the participation of Ghanaian athletes in the Grand Prix was an individual invitation to the athletes hence there was no need to inform the chief coach.
