I Was Not Sacked From Berekum Chelsea - Yusif Abubakar

Yusif Abubakar insists he was not sacked from Berekum Chelsea as being reported following the sides inability to win the Premier League. News fast circulating in the local media has it that the entire technical team of the Blues have been dissolved following the sides inconsistent run this term. Chelsea failed to give themselves any chance of reclaiming the Ghana Premier League with a 2-1 defeat at Hearts of Lions on the final day of the season. This coupled with Asante Kotokos win at Amidaus Professionals last Sunday saw the Porcupine Warriors retain the league trophy they won last season. The clubs top hierarchy have seen been reported to have cleared out the entire technical bench with the aim of building a new unit for next season. But head coach Yusif Abubakar says he only leaves the club following the expiration of his one-year deal with the former champions. How can you be sacked when your contract comes to an end, he told GHANAsoccernet.com. I honestly dont know how people understand the game but the truth of the matter is that I was signed on for a season and now that the season has ended I am to leave. I have not asked for a renewal so where does the sacking come in? There are still some issues to sort out with the club before I leave but there is nothing like getting sacked. Abubakar joined Chelsea after quitting Medeama at the start of the season. The former Hearts of Oak trainer has however had to battle internal wrangling which saw technical director Hans Van der Pluijm return to the take a place on the bench.
