Former Champions, Ghana And Portugal Clash

The clash involving two former champions - Ghana and Portugal - at the FIFA U-20 World Cup winners tops the bill in Wednesday's Round of 16 matches. Ghana, winners in 2009 will meet the Portuguese, back-to-back winners of the competition in 1989 and 1991 for a place in the quarter-finals of the tournament in Turkey. Sellas Tetteh is the man who steered the Black Satellites to victory at the FIFA U-20 World Cup four years ago but the competition in Turkey has proved tough for the Ghana coach. After slow start in the group phase, the Black Satellites, who reached the knockout phase by a narrow one-goal margin from Egypt will have their work cut out against a Portugal side considered as one of the favourites for the title. For now, the celebration at the end of a long and tense wait is over as the biggest challenge confronting Ghana, is the game with Portugal. "Everything they pick up here will help them later on in their career," said Tetteh after Ghana's 4-1 win over the U.S in the last Group A match as he looked ahead to the clash with Portugal. Certainly, Tetteh's side will be taking nothing for granted against a quality opposition after squeezing through to this stage of the competition.
