Olele Kingson Lands Cyprus Deal

Ghana goalkeeper Richard Olele Kingson has signed a one-year deal for Cypriot club Doxa Katokopia. The 34-year-old had agreed to join the club after fruitful negotiations since his arrival in Cyprus last week. The former first choice goalkeeper of the Black Stars has been without a club since he was released by English club Blackpool in May 2011. Kingson, who also played for Turkish giants Galatasaray, had to deal with several issues both on and off the field in recent years. Aside losing his position as Ghana first choice goalkeeper, Kingson has also had to deal with family issues. He has, however, put all these issues behind him and has made a triumphant return to club football after over two years of virtual inactivity. Kingson could even make a return to the Black Stars team if he manages to hold down a regular spot at his new club. His return to the Black Stars, if he excels at Doxa, will increase competition in the goalkeeping department ahead of the Ghanas anticipated participation at next years World Cup in Brazil. He was the man in between the sticks for Ghana at both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups in Germany and South Africa respectively.
