NDC Youth Shoots Down Mahamas Boy

Even before President John Dramani Mahama releases the list of nominees for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) posts in the Northern region, tension is mounting among the rank and file of the party in the region. The Comrades Network of Mamprugu, a think tank of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in East Mamprusi District of the Northern region therefore asked President John Mahama not to renominate the current District Chef Executive (DCE), Adam Imoro. He accused him of mismanaging the resources of the district. They warned that they would advise themselves appropriately if the President renominates him. The think tank disclosed this at a press conference addressed by its spokesperson, Salifu Abraham in Gambaga. The group said there has been no meaningful development in the area during the period. He noted that the party narrowly won the seat in the 2012 elections by about 400 votes as against over 4,000 votes in the 2008 elections. Mr. Abraham also accused the DCE of taking unilateral decisions in the appointment of persons to GYEEDA and other posts as well as violating due process in the award of contracts to the displeasure of party executives in the constituency. He described the DCE as incompetent and appealed to the President to appoint a young, talented and energetic person to steer the affairs of the district in an open and transparent manner. Touching on corruption, the spokesperson opined that in 2009, Adam Imoro collected GH₵32,500 from three farmers after he promised to secure government subsidized tractors for them. He further called on him to render account for GHC4 million the district received in 2010 for capacity building and water projects for the area. The group sternly warned the Member of Parliament (MP), Dr. Alfred Sugri Tia to stay neutral to promote unity among the partys members. The Comrades Network of Mamprugu reminded President John Mahama to fulfill his campaign promise by completing the 45-kilometer Walewale-Gambaga Road, which is at a standstill. They pledged to make Mamprugu a no-go area for the opposition should their demands be met.
