F.F. Anto Commends Petitioners Lead Counsel

Though the final verdict of the ongoing election petition trial is yet to be announced, a leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region has expressed delight at the performance of the lead counsel for the Petitioners. Mr. Fred Fredua Anto lauded lawyer Philip Addison for a great job done by exposing the numerous irregularities that accompanied the 2012 general elections. In an interview with Okay FM, the Ashanti Regional Chairman stated that it was important for Ghanaians to really know the person, in whose hands this great country has been entrusted to conduct elections, which is at the core of our democracy. I am happy because he (Phillip Addison) has exposed Afari Gyan as a dishonest person and that is enough for me, he maintained. The NPP stalwart could not understand why such a dishonest person, who is elusive with very minute details at his age could be at the helm of affairs of elections in the country. Mr. Anto made this comment during a reaction to allegations by the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the NPP masterminded of the rampant rejection of people nominated by President John Dramani Mahama to head the various assemblies in the Ashanti Region. The NDC blamed the NPP of secretly influencing Assemblymen of most of the assemblies in the region to vote against the nominees. However, F.F. Anto vehemently kicked against all allegations by the ruling NDC, insisting that they were innocent of all charges being leveled against them.
