Late President Mills Was Not A Man Of Peace - Ken Kuranchie

The late Professor John Evans Atta Mills was accorded with the title man of peace when he was serving as President of Ghana but the Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie has begged to differ from the perception the NDC has painted in the minds of Ghanaians. Speaking on Okay FM, he said that it is not true that the late President Mills wanted peace, because it was under his watch that Koku Anyidoho, his Director of Communications insulted former President Kuffour that he is ugly and does not want to see his face. He again said that the late President Mills sat at the Presidency without concern while four Dagomba men were butchered and murdered at the Agbogbloshie market; stressing that if the late President Mills was a man of peace, he should have opened up for investigations to ascertain and arrest the culprits involved. The Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight further said that it was under the leadership of the late President Mills that the founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) was sacked from the partys activities. He however emphasized that all these are facts which happened in the country under the late President Mills watch. He recounted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) members after 2008 election turned political refugees in Ghana; in that at Agbogbloshie, hundreds of people who are NPP sympathizers were sacked from the market and as he can recollect, none of these people have been able to go back to the market to do their business because of fear. He reiterated that a man of peace as the late President Mills was affectionately called should not have allowed the NDC party leaders and the young ones to heckle the former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings during the NDC congress at Sunyani; adding that these young boys in the party also rained insults on former President Jerry John Rawlings at the same congress. Ken Kuranchie pinpointed that the fact that the late President Mills was a soft spoken person did not make him a peaceful person in his activities; averring that it is not true that the late President Mills was a man of peace as the NDC wants to portray him to Ghanaians. He was with the opinion that the activities of the late President Mills rather brought division in the ruling NDC; acknowledging that somehow under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama peace has restored between the Rawlings and the party.
