Akua Donkor Eyes Agric Ministry.Says Tax On Cutlasses Will Make Govt Unpopular

Although many Ghanaians over the past months have bemoaned and described her as a comedian who only wanted fame in the media, the Founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Madam Akua Donkor, has expressed interest to manage the Agricultural Sector, if given the go-ahead by the president. According to her, she had all the expertise to help improve the Agricultural Sector if Government entrust her into with any responsibility in that regard. I have always been with the farmers and I know their problemsI will use my experience as a local farmer and share with them my expertise in the sector, these she said in an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, on an Accra-based radio station, OKAY FM. In the interview, she pleaded for a position at Ghana Cocoa Board and vouched to give her best if she ever had the opportunity. As part of her proficiencies in the Agricultural Sector, Madam Akua Donkor however, advised government to refrain from putting high taxes on cutlasses and other farming tool, since she said, that would make government unpopular. If government put taxes on cutlasses, we the local farmers will also put down our tools and stop farming as welland if that happens there will be a great famine in the country, she noted. She further advised government to rather shift high taxes on foreign nationals who are in local mining, popularly known as Galamsey saying, Government must rather tax the whites who come here to dig and send away our gold they should be the ones to pay high taxes on their operations and not the poor farmer out there who cannot even buy a common cutlass. She however commended government for its decision to put taxes on condoms. Government can go ahead and put taxes, even higher ones on condoms, since it will! Reduce prostitution in the country, she said.
