First came the caution from the Ghana Police Service that all civilians wouldn�t be allowed to embark on demonstrations. Then came the excuse that the police lacked the numbers to protect civilians due to the election petition before the Supreme Court. As a result of that, members of some political parties (NPP & PPP) including pressure groups AFAG, were denied the opportunity by the Ghana Police Service. Then reports circulated that a member of the Government's Communication Team, Stephen Atubiga, plans to embark on a Peace march with support from the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and all peace loving Ghanaians. The event was schedule to take place on 10th of August 2013. In an interview with Okay FM, National Youth Organizer for the New Patriotic Party, Emmanuel Danso Attafuah saw the move as one that smacks of segregation and favouritism, wondering why members of other political parties are being subjected to ill treatment as compared to the treatment Mr. Stephen Atubiga is enjoying. "...it is sad the police service has deliberately boxed out other political activists with intentions, to preach peace, before and after the Supreme Court ruling," he said.
