GYEEDA Report: Why The RushWhat Are We Screaming About?

Fred Agbenyo, a member of the communication team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the rush for the original copy of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) report.

He does not understand why people are pressurizing President John Dramani Mahama to publish the actual report when a committee has been set to look into it and give further recommendations.

President John Mahama a few days after receiving the report from the Inter-Ministerial Committee formed another team headed by a senior adviser to the President, Paul Victor Obeng for review.

The team is to evaluate the committee's findings, conclusions and recommendations and advise the President accordingly.

However, this act has been condemned especially when the President has not published the initial report given to him by the Inter-Ministerial Committee. All there is is a leaked draft report making rounds among a selected few.

I dont know why we have to do this to ourselves. Whenever a report comes out, we criminalize and basterdize people in the media but should we continue on that same path? Where are we running to? Why are we in haste? he questioned.

He insisted that the President did nothing wrong by recommending the report to another team for review; adding he is close to the fire and he knows how hot it is (literally speaking).

Speaking to Kwami Sefa-Kayi, Fred Agbenyo said every Ghanaian is aware of what is happening as far as the report is concerned and so what else are we screaming and shouting and criminalizing and demonizing companies about? If the president has an intention of covering up any rot in the report, he could have chosen not to form any committee and no matter what anyone says, he will pay deaf ears to it. However, that is not what he is doing

Fred Agbenyo has therefore asked Ghanaians to be patient and wait for the report that will come from the PV Obeng team.
