Director of Communication for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region, Allotey Jacobs has pleaded with the Supreme Court to temper justice with mercy by forgiving the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP,) Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John. Sir John has been charged with contempt and is to appear before the nine Judges of the Supreme Court, Wednesday morning alongside Hopeson Adorye, a member of the Communication team of the NPP who has also been charged with the same offense. �The court should have mercy on him. I expect Sir John to be very remorseful, to go with humility and to beg for forgiveness. I plead with the nine judges that despite the fact that they have already sentenced Stephen Atubiga and Ken Kuranchie, they should have mercy on Sir John,� Allotey Jacobs told Kwami Sefa Kayi on �Kokrokoo� Wednesday morning. According to him, the sentencing of various contemnors has thought him a lesson to be careful when speaking on air because if a �whole� General Secretary has been summoned before the Supreme Court, it is an indication that nobody is above the law. Allotey Jacobs, speaking in a reflective mood prayed for forgiveness from God on behalf of all who speak as party communicators and functionaries on one platform or the other, adding �I have learnt a very big lesson�. �They have put fear into all Ghanaians that where one�s freedom of speech begins is where another one ends. If Sir John as a General Secretary of a party is being summoned and there is a likelihood of...then we need to reform...nobody is above the law...we are all fallible. I am sure my big brother the President will even intercede...losing an election is not the end of our lives,� he opined.
