Hopeson Adorye, a member of the Young Patriots, one of the youth wings of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has disclosed that he wanted to kneel before the Supreme Court justices to escape punishment. According to the NPP member, he was gripped with fear when he appeared before the nine justices of the Supreme Court last week. Mr Adorye and Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie aka �Sir John,� the NPP General Secretary were dragged before the Supreme Court last week for making contemptuous statements. He said his counsel told him that he would adopt an apologetic strategy in court, adding, �I accepted this without question.� Mr Adorye told Ohene Djan of Kessben FM that he got frightened when the time came for him to face the Supreme Court justices. �At times it is better to be coward,� he declared. Mr Adorye said he would be circumspect in his commentary henceforth and admonished politicians in the country to avoid making contemptuous statements. �Don�t give definite statements that your party will win the case before the Supreme Court,� Adorye advised Ghanaians, notably politicians. According to him, Ghanaians must give the needed respect to the judiciary. Mr Adorye stated categorically that Ghanaians would remain peaceful after the Supreme Court verdict. According to him, the presidential election petition has helped the citizenry to appreciate the authority of the judiciary. In this regard, Mr Adorye noted that the petitioners should be commended by all for seeking redress in court. He expressed delight about the level support he received from some leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including Deputy Sports Minister, Joseph Yammin, Kwaku Boahen, Ashanti Regional NDC Youth Organizer and Fuseini Donkor, DCE, Sekyere Afram Plains. He expressed gratitude to the NDC members and P.C. Appiah Ofori for paying the fine slapped on him by the court.
