SADA Is Not Only For NDC-Minister

Mr. Bede Ziedeng, Northern Regional Minister, has urged the people of northern Ghana to take advantage of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) to better their lot since the organization was making progress to improve the standard of living of the people it its catchment area. He said people must focus on the positive developments that the organization was making in the agricultural sectors instead of focusing on the seemingly negative sides of SADA saying SADA supports people who genuinely present proposalsSADA does not share money. Mr. Ziedeng stated this on Tuesday in Karaga during an inspection tour of a 600-acre rice farm which the Borimaga Youth Group of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were cultivating the farm with support from SADA. He expressed joy and said This suggests that NDC youth are not lazy people fomenting violence as speculated by some people, but are really into genuine productive agriculture to sustain their livelihoods. I must emphasize that SADA is not also there for only NDC people but is there to assist everybody in its ecological zonepeople who are interested must avail themselves for any form of assistance, the Minister stated. Mr. Ziedeng said the Guinea Fowl Project of SADA was on course and any group of people or individuals who are interested in investing in the sector must not hesitate since the Authority was ready to assist people to produce Guinea fowl. He said SADA would be making available more tractors, combine harvesters and other equipment to increase agricultural productivity in the SADA ecological zone. Alhaji Gilbert Seidu Iddi, the Chief Executive of SADA, commended the youth for taking such initiative and appealed to other youth groups to take to agriculture not only to contribute to the food basket of the country but to gain sustainable income for themselves. He said the ultimate objective of SADA was to create jobs and increase wealth for the people, stressing that, it was unfortunate the rains this year had not been good and predicted that the situation was likely to affect food production. Mr. Alhassan Adam, the Leader of the Borimaga Group Youths of the NDC, was full of praise to the Chief Executive of SADA and said SADA assisted them with tractors and seeds and appealed for combine harvester to enable them harvest their rice in good time to avoid the effects of bush fires.
